It requires a pair of 1.5V AA batteries, and you can use lithium or alkaline or rechargeable batteries as you wish. With two lithium batteries, it can last up to 1,000 hours in continuous usage. On the other hand, EOTech 553 requires a pair of 123 lithium batteries, with 1,100 continuous hours of runtime.
Both models come with 20 brightness settings to adapt to any lighting condition. However, keep in mind that EOTech 512 does not support any night vision mode. EOTech 553 is the model that boasts night vision compatibility, coming with 10 additional settings for Gen I to Gen III+ night vision devices.
