Lucid HD7 Review : Well-Built Red Dot Scope with Auto Brightness

There are several different kinds of weapon sights, but red dot scope is an excellent choice for tactical and competitive purposes. A red dot scope does not provide huge levels of magnification, which is not needed in close-quarter battles and short-ranged shootings, but it greatly enhances your aiming speed and precision. Standing in the sub two hundred bucks price range, Lucid HD7 falls into the low budget category. Even so, the model has a lot to speak about. Lucid HD7 is a well-built and feature-packed red dot scope that is highly durable and reliable in all situations. Most probably, you will be enchanted by the auto brightness feature!

Lucid HD7 comes in two color variants, matte black and tan. In general, choosing the color variant that goes along with your weapon is best. The tan version will not look good and offer little to no tactical advantage on a pitch black rifle, and vice versa. Nevertheless, even by just looking at the scope, you can tell that Lucid HD7 has been made for total ruggedness. The housing is constructed from a one-piece 6063 aluminum material, so there is no welded joint that may be prone to leakage. The whole housing is completely sealed. Lucid HD7 is entirely waterproof and able to withstand submersion. It is also solid and robust, as showcased by the product passing the .458 SOCOM shockproof standards. The interior of the optics is Nitrogen-purged for fog-proof properties.

The mounting system is also well-made. Coming with an integrated Picatinny rail with reversible pins, Lucid HD7 is compatible with a wide range of rifles and shotguns. After a proper installation, that is pretty quick and straightforward, the mounting fits very well and solidly. Another great thing about Lucid HD7 regarding the mounting system is that it has been co-witnessed perfectly and precisely on the lower third.

- Cast aluminum frame - Imported - Parallax Free Lower 1/3 Co-Witness - Picatinny Rail Mount Built in - 100% Waterproof Fogproof and Shockproof tested to 458 SOCOM - 4 Operator Selectable Reticles with Capped 1/2 MOA Adjustments - Reticle Auto Brightness Sensor with Auto Shut Off after 2 hours

There are four selectable reticle patterns for you to choose from. With multiple reticles, you can easily customize the sight to your personal needs and preferences. You can also easily adapt to different challenges and conditions. The size of the reticle is 2 MOA, which is actually neither too large nor too small. But, unfortunately, the reticle has a slight fuzziness, requiring your eyes to put some extra focus on the aiming.

Nevertheless, the field of view is sharp and crisp. There are seven brightness levels available, selectable in the manual mode. Have we mentioned that Lucid HD7 comes with the auto brightness feature? In the auto mode, Lucid HD7 will automatically adjust its brightness according to the environment. This feature is especially very useful when transitioning from a dark room quickly to the bright open world; you won’t need to fumble with the settings, and will be ready for the next shot right away. Furthermore, Lucid HD7 has a pretty efficient battery life, thanks to the auto shut-off feature. The battery life is not the longest, but the scope can shut down automatically after being idle for more than two hours to save some power. It requires only a single AAA battery to operate, which can last for about 1,000 hours.
